E-waste: West Africa continues to drown in the rich world's obsolete electronics |

 Every month, hundreds of tons of obsolete computers, televisions and other household consumer electronics are arriving at ports in Ghana and Nigeria. From here, the second-hand electronics are distributed via local networks of dealers throughout the country.
According to local Ghanaian and Nigerian sources interviewed by CI's partner organisation, DanWatch, as few as one in four of the imports are working, while the remaining electronic waste, also known as e-waste, often ends up on dumpsite fires. |

 The 10th of May, was a very busy day for Tangaza students with dual celebration; the diaconate ordination of four students of the Society of African Mission (S.M.A), and the graduation of several students of Christ the Teacher Institute for Education with Summas, magnas and cum laude probatus.All Tangaza students were invited to the 12th graduation ceremony by Brother Louis De Thomasis, FSC, PhD, chancellor, Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota/U.S.A, the Board of Directors, administration, faculty of students of Christ the Teacher Institute for Education and Tangaza College Administration. |

 Should the Church tell people how to vote? Or leave it to the individual conscience? Even the wrongly informed conscience, misled by a sustained campaign of false propaganda and lies as in Zimbabwe? Put plainly: Is the dictator and his party still a genuine option for a Christian?
During the Cold War there was no question: a Catholic could not vote for the Communist Party, and in countries with Christian Democratic Parties it was expected that a good Catholic, a faithful Christian, would vote for the "C" party. |

 On Saturday May 3. 9 am – 5 pm at City Council Grounds, next to Meteorological Department Headquarters, Dagoretti Corner, Nairobi, there was a marvelous Cooperation in making reconciliation a reality and the challenge of the time for the Kenyan Catholic Youth in countering the aftermath of the post- election violence. The theme was “Youth United for Peace in Kenya.”
The post-election violence left many people with great bitterness and ethnic animosity which if not urgently solved, will certainly plunge Kenya into another pool of blood in the near future. |
