On the 8th of July, Christians, guests from several places, Priests, Sisters, Bishop and some of us Consolata Missionaries with the Regional Superior, Fr. Antonio Vismara, were thrilled to attend the Celebration of the Annual Feast of “St Peter and Paul Parish”. Recalling a little bit our missionary history in Ethiopia, this Parish is the only one where we, Consolata Missionaries, are running in the Archdiocese of Addis Ababa.

Fr. Giancarlo Bossi’s kidnap has confirmed that God is capable of bringing good out of evil, he gathered many people of different faiths together in prayer and at the same time he helped people to discover that a missionary is “ordinary”, “not a hero, nor a fanatic, but a man who has accepted the call of the Lord: Now go, I am sending you…”. The Church of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions’ Mother House in Rome was packed with people last night for. They were there to celebrate with mass the founding of the Institute and to give thanksgiving for the release of PIME missionary Fr. Giancarlo Bossi. |

Introduction
Comte Auguste, a sociologist, wrote of one man who put on a shirt in a backward manner in such a way that the buttons could not be done by him if not by another. This demonstration of Comte hints to our present presentation where appreciating the human social nature we necessarily affirm the significance of communication. Communication, sharing and dialogue are fundamental to the formation and maturity of any religious person. This topic is of our concern because many are the times the missionaries fall in deep crisis and frustrations and the blame is laid on them unconsciously while in fact the whole discussion began during the initial or basic formation as it’s an element of human nature: “the need to be with”. |

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Japan has published its Statistics of the Catholic Church in Japan 2006.The entire number of Catholics (clergy and religious included) numbered 452,571 at the end of 2006, roughly the same as 2005, and exceeded 450,000 for the third consecutive year. About 60 percent of Japan's Catholics are women. Because this census is based on parochial registers, those who are not registered at a parish, generally foreigners, are not included. The Tokyo archdiocese has the largest number of Catholics. The next three are Nagasaki archdiocese, Osaka archdiocese and Yokohama diocese. (See below for a listing of all dioceses). |
