Evangelization through life experience
News - Our Missionary tell us...

Evangelization has something to do with shouting to huge crowds, proclaiming, broadcasting far and wide the gospel that in Jesus Christ God lives among us. This kind of view of evangelization has made many people to associate evangelization with only priests, pastors and the tele-evangelists of our time, rarely connecting it to the quiet humble service of consecrated lay persons (brothers and sisters) and the transforming daily activities of ordinary Christians.

On 26th September 2009, a renewed deeper perspective of evangelization was discovered by the Christians of Sagana Parish, where Br. Benoit Katula Makiong was taking his final vows as a Consolata missionary.

It’s a great joy when as Consolata family celebrate together special dates in the lives of our confreres. This is a source of joy and altogether brings the sense of belonging and encouragement in their missionary and apostolic lives. Marking the beginning of the missionary month, celebrating the memorial of St. Teresa of the child Jesus, considered as a great missionary who never went out of the walls of the convent in France but had a great love for the missions and dedicated her entire life praying for them, the Madadeni community and the entire south African delegation in extension celebrated 21 years of priesthood of Fr. Rocco Marra imc .

This year South Africa celebrated 15 years of democracy. In fact, once again South Africans have shown commitment in building a democratic culture. There is a national consciousness of democracy. The way the elections have been held is a sign of a mature democracy. We will not be exaggerating if we say that the victory belongs to all South Africans who voted on 22 April 2009, during which the ANC won 77% of the votes, and Mr Jacob Zuma became the 3rd democratically elected president. “

Many readers may ask themselves the whys and the wherefores of my writing about Confreres of other regions. I am writing about them because we spent life together in the same community. Based on Founder Joseph Allamano, as was underlined by our General Direction in the letter sent to the missionary about the coming XII general chapter: “Do not say: it is not my concern. It is everybody’s concern!” I mean the statement may be also used in different ways. I personally assert “do not say: the celebration of 50 years of profession of a confrere is not your concern. It is ours.” We have to celebrate with our Confrere. Especially as Young missionaries, the Jubilee of our Confrere should be considered leitmotiv, strength of encouragement for our vocation and mission.
