After three years of the signing of the presidential decree homologating the Indigenous Land Raposa Serra do Sol (RSS) the announcement of the operation, termed as UPTAKON 3, to expel the non-indigenous from the homologated area made us very happy. We felt the commitment of the Federal Government to guarantee the rights of these indigenous people which are already guaranteed by the Brazilian constitution.On 9th of April we got shocked by the decision of the Supreme Federal Tribunal, of suspending the operation aimed at removing the invaders once and for all.

Catholics in a Mongolian town are not disheartened by local authorities' repeated delay in granting permission for faith activities.
"It may take longer and there are many frustrations and disappointments, but we trust that the lord will grant us a church eventually," Joseph, spokesperson for the community in Zuun Mod, told UCA News recently. |

His Lordship the Right Rev. Peter Kairo is now the new Archbishop of the catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri.
His appointment was made Saturday by His holiness the pope Benedict the sixteenth.
He takes over the leadership of the diocese after the Late Archbishop Nicodemus Kirima who passed on in November last year.
Born on 24th of May 1941, His grace Kairo says his passion for priesthood started very early in life but it wasn’t all smooth sailing. |
