Mongolia: In Alvaiheer the local community with Consolata Missionaries celebrate Christmas

The Consolata Missionaries working in Arvaiheer - Mongolia 430km from Ulaanbaatar, the capital city, marked this year’s celebration of Christmas with the local community.

The solemn Mass of Christmas started at 5pm presided over by Fr Ernesto and concelebrated by the rest of the fathers. Since in Mongolia Christmas day is not a public holiday it was planned to celebrate the Mass in the evening so as to allow people to be present after their day’s work or school.

Kenya: Work Harder for Peace, Nuncio Urges Kenyans

Kenyans have been urged to work harder for peace, justice and reconciliation.

They were also urged not to take the existing peace in the country for granted.

The sentiments were sounded by the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya, Archbishop Alain Paul Lebeaupin on Sunday, December 20, when he officially closed the week-long family celebrations by Nairobi's Holy Family Minor Basilica Parish.

From December 14 to 20, 2009; all of us IMC Ethiopian region members were gathered in Addis Ababa for welcoming our Father General, Fr. Aquileo and our Continental Councillor, Fr. Mathew Ouma. The visit was preceded by a very clear formula and timetable from our regional Superior, Fr. Antony Vismara in his circular letter to each IMC missionary. The visit also offered opportunities such as of getting personal dialogues with Frs. Aquileo and Mathew with regard to the personal life, community life and other experiences.

Cote d'Ivoire: Bridging the aid gap post-conflict

Nearly three years from the signing of a peace agreement in Côte d’Ivoire, emergency operations are slowing but humanitarian needs remain, aid workers say. More funds are needed to support the transition from humanitarian to development.

Côte d’Ivoire, like many other post-conflict states, faces an ill-defined period when the emergency has waned but needs remain acute and the people's living conditions precarious, said Julie Bélanger, head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
