We, fathers and seminarians together, as a community residing at Allamano seminary Morogoro (Tanzania) feel honored and blessed to have been visited by the General councilor in charge of formation: Fr Pacco Lopez. Sincerely we would like to extend our heartfelt happiness to have had him among us and to share with him some days of his visit in Tanzania. It’s part of his work as our father in charge but we feel honored particularly for leading us in a three days retreat as we were beginning the year after holidays. We can’t forget the sincere patience he showed us in the dialogue he had with each of the twenty four seminarians and the four fathers staying at Allamano seminary in Morogoro and later with regional superior Iringa. To be frank, such a visit is of great importance to us young seminarians today and future Consolata Missionaries (though Fr Pacco insisted that we are already Consolatas!) and so we have every reason to feel proud and privileged. |

Clashes between Christians and Muslims have left 5 people dead and many others injured in western Ethiopia during the past week, and two churches have been set ablaze. The unrests began on Sunday, October 1, near the town of Jimma, about 300 miles west of Addis Ababa.
Reports indicate that the violence began when militant Muslims interfered with a celebration of Meskel, the Ethiopian Orthodox counterpart of the Catholic feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. Islamic protestors reportedly complained that a bonfire started by Orthodox believers, as part of the traditional celebration, was burning on Muslim-owned land. |

As it may be for other Countries, we all know that in Ethiopia the Land belongs to the Government. It has the full power on it. At any time, the authorities are in a fit state to implement some projects, such as construction of roads, official buildings, etc…it does it without any pity, even tough the land is occupied by a private landowner. There are almost three years ago since the Government has started making a lot of buildings commonly called “Condominium” in Addis Ababa. Now the Capital City is plenty of it. |

Dear Muslim Friends,
1. It gives me special pleasure to send you for the first time friendly and warmest greetings from the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue on the occasion of your joyful feast of ‘Id al-Fitr, with which the month-long fasting and prayer of Ramadan ends. This month is always an important time for the Muslim community and gives to each individual member a new strength for their personal, family and social existence. It matters that all of us witness to our religious beliefs with a life increasingly integrated and in conformity with the Creator’s plan, a life concerned with serving our brothers and sisters in ever increasing solidarity and fraternity with members of other religions and all men of good will, in the desire to work together for the common good. |

The Catholic Diocese of Soddo-Hosanna is promoting the status of women through a range of educational and skills training programmes.According to Bishop Rodrigo Mejía Saldarriaga, women do not have equal educational opportunities with men, although they are regarded highly in the African cultures as the "source of life".Bishop Mejia told the German-based international Catholic pastoral charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) that even now many Africans would not understand why women should learn to read and write or be trained for a profession. |
