Gambo mission is one of the oldest missions where we are witnessing God in Meki Vicariate. It is situated in southern of Addis Ababa, the capital city; almost at 225 km. The mission of Gambo got its chance to have several congregations in its jurisdiction. We have the Sisters of Faucauld; Consolata Sisters and Consolata Fathers. We are involved in different sectors: pastoral and social activities. On most occasions, Gambo mission is well known due to the presence of the hospital. As soon as there is a say on Gambo mission, people quickly think of the hospital, but there is also the Church, which has some outstations. Each week, the hospital hosts many people, such as doctors, nurses, volunteers, friends… from different countries. |

We began this year on a very sad note whereby our beloved Country was engulfed by post election violence and lots of lives were lost. The violence has affected various parts of the Country, and we have witnessed a lot of suffering by people who have been displaced from their homes. We have seen people who have lived together as neighbors turn against each other as if they are strangers. Lives have been lost, children have been made orphans, and others are living as refugees in their own country! The livelihood of numerous people has been shattered as a result of their businesses, which in most cases, is the source of their daily bread, having been destroyed by being set ablaze by arsonists. |

Roman Catholic leader Monsignor Luis Augusto Castro said the Church was in discreet contact with the rebels in a bid to secure a Red Cross visit.
It is hoped that the Red Cross will be allowed to see more than 40 high-profile hostages in the jungle.
The Farc released two of their captives last week.
One of those released, former MP Consuelo Gonzalez, brought letters from some of the hostages she left behind, which revealed the extent of their mental and physical suffering. |

The report says ECK has so far not succeeded in establishing the integrity of the tallying process. "The Commonwealth Observer Group has concluded that the process after the close of polling did not meet international standards," said Commonwealth secretary general, Mr Don McKinnon. Consequently, McKinnon has urged President Kibaki and ODM leader, Mr Raila Odinga, to come together to find a lasting solution to the impasse. |
