The 4th National Missionary Congress is underway at Demesse Sisters, Nairobi, from Dec. 4 to 9. Organised by the Pontifical Missionary Societies in Kenya (PMS), the congress was officially opened by Bishop Anthony Mukobo Ireri of Isiolo, who is chairman of the mission commission of the Kenya Episcopal Conference.

PMS national director Fr. Eugene Ferrari told CISA the theme of the congress is: ‘I can’t be holy without being missionary; I can’t be missionary without being holy.’
The topics covered during the congress include:
• Mary’s missionary spirituality
• Missionary experience of a diocesan co-ordinator
• Contemplation and prophesy in missionary vacation
• Holy childhood spirituality
• St. Paul’s exhortation on holiness to his Christians
• Is it time for a missionary youth movement in Kenya?
• Lay mission spirituality and missionary animation
• Proclaim Jesus to all nations
About 85 children, members of Holy Childhood from Kisumu Metropolitan province, were expected at the venue on Tuesday.

The congress will conclude with plan of action at metropolitan level to be followed by metropolitan congresses in 2007
