If you don’t mind, would you allow me to make my short reflexion based on the fideism instead of being limited only on the rationalism. At first sight, the Virgin Mary was chosen by God to be the Mother of humanity Saviour. (Lk 1: 28-35). Then, Our Founder, Joseph Allamano in his life and letters recommends us, Consolata Missionaries, to give a particular place for St Mary in our lives and missions. In the end, the response of Mary which is transformed into praise’s song helps us a lot to get values and has to make us think of our type of life in our communities. Among many other values seen in her, we really need to revere St Mary as Our Model, Mother...

I would kindly and humbly like to remind you again the Mary’s Song of Praise: “My Soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, for he has looked with favour on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly; he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, according to the promise he made to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”

Our Congregation also through the ACTS of the XI General Chapter, English edition, p.14, n.8, strongly asserts that “Consolation, which we learn from Mary ‘our model and guide, our inspiration and mother’ (XGC 25) and our Foundress, inspires in a significant way the daily living out of our ad gentes missionary charism. The maternal style of Our Lady Consolata pervades and shapes our way of living and exercising mission. “The Consolata is for us more than a simple devotion, or a title. She inspires our way of concretizing our charism. In the tradition stemming from the Founder, to bring the joyful announcement of the Gospel is to work for the welfare and the happiness of people, it is to free them from all sorts of sadness and suffering, from fear and oppression”(XGC 25).

Knowing the importance of St Mary in our lives, we tremendously thank our parents, benefactors, friends, for supporting the construction of St Mary’s Cave in our mission of Wonji. The Parish has St Mary as Patron Saint. From now, we can all be delighted to have one more place to revere Mary, as our Guide, Model, Mother…

St Mary, intercede for us beside Your Son, Jesus-Christ, Amen!
