THE 2nd DAY OF THE INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF IMC FORMATORS BRAVETTA Print E-mail

The 2nd day of our meeting was opened with the celebration of mass, which was animated by formators from Brazil and Argentina (Fr. Elio, Fr. Luiz and Fr. Daniel). During this mass, we prayed for all the young people of Latin America and in a special way for all our IMC students and novices of our formation houses found in this continent. Fr. Daniel Bertea (novice master -Argentina) shared with us about a missionary congress that took place on 12th-17th August 2008 at Quito-Ecuador. It was the third American Missionary Congress called CAM 3 Comla 8.

Fr. Daniel made us understand that in this CAM 3- COMLA 8, the American Continent was invited to think again in its missionary dimension, but to be rooted in the Listening to the Word (being Disciples), in Learning from the Master (Jesus Christ) and in Announcing to the World the Love of God. Monsignor Luis Augusto Castro stressed the point that the mission has to take place not only in the Continent (as the Continental Mission was launched at the end of the closing mass), but from the Continent everywhere else, reminding everyone that Africa is still a missionary land.

On our Agenda, the whole of the morning session was spent on the topic of Spiritual Life. This was considered as one of the most important and challenging content of the formation, in the sense that the formator needs to help the student to have a personal experience of God. It is not only a question of helping the other to have a personal experience of God, but the formator himself should make this experience first, so that he can be able to help the others to do so. This theme was introduced by Fr. Paco Lopez and the formators had personal and group reflections. Other themes we touched were on Eucharist, personal prayer, Breviary, Lectio Divina and spiritual direction.

In the afternoon, we took time to review the criteria and the style of our formation as they are presented in out Ratio Formationis and as we are putting them into practice in our various houses of formation. Our day was concluded with the evening prayer and a moment of adoration.

The formators meeting goes on tomorrow as we count on your prayers remembering all our young people in our formation houses……….
